City of Blue Island Finance Committee Met September 14

City of Blue Island Finance Committee met Sept. 14.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

The Finance committee was called to order by Chairman Kevin Donahue at 6:01pm. The roll call was taken and Aldermen Donahue, Bilotto, Klinker, Alexander, & Johnson were all in attendance. There was no public comment.

First the Committee heard a proposal from the John D. Rita Recreation Center Director for reimbursement of a damaged rules sign. It was asked that Mr. Jackson reach out to Public works to see if they can fix the sign before we attempt to go after the people responsible.

Next the committee heard from Alliant who is the Cities insurance broker. It was mentioned that for the next year the city will see a slight savings in the medical portion of the health insurance. There was motion by Alderman Bilotto and a 2nd by Alderman Johnson to approve the renewal with Blue Cross Blue Shield. A roll call vote was taken and Alderman Donahue, Bilotto, Klinker, Alexander, and Johnson all vote aye. The motion was declared carried.

The committee hear a proposal from the Finance Director regarding the Sales Tax Rebate to the Thornton’s gas station. It was decided to table this item until more information could be provided to the Committee. There was a motion to table made by Alderman Bilotto and a 2nd made by Alderman Johnson. A roll call vote was taken and Aldermen Donahue, Bilotto, Klinker, Alexander, and Johnson all voted aye. The motion was declared tabled.

The committee then heard a proposal for reimbursement to Michael Rubino for a Buisness Development Grant. The cost being reimbursed to Mr. Rubino is $1749.00. There was a motion to approve made by Alderman Bilotto and a 2nd made by Alderman Alexander. A roll call vote was taken and Aldermen Donahue, Billotto, Kilinker, Alexander, and Johnson all voted aye. The motion was declared carried.

The last item before the committee was a budget transfer request from the Building Department. The elevator inspection line has gone negative and this money is recouped when an inspection is done. There was a motion to approve by Alderman Johnson and a 2nd by Alderman Bilotto. A roll call vote was taken and Aldermen Donahue, BIlotto, Klinker, Alexander and Johnson all voted aye. The motion was declared carried.

There was a motion to adjourn made by Alderman Bilotto and a 2nd made by Alderman Johnson. A roll call vote was taken and Aldermen Donahue, BIlotto, Klinker, Alexander and Johnson all voted aye. The meeting was adjourned at 6:44pm.
