City of O'Fallon issued the following announcement on Jan. 4.

The City’s contracted waste hauler, Waste Management will collect discarded Christmas trees on your regularly scheduled trash pick-up days until January 30, 2021.

“Waste Management will pick up your discarded Christmas trees at the curb along with your normal trash,” said Mayor Herb Roach. “Please use this service, it will help everyone get rid of their trees in way that doesn’t cause future issues with drainage.”

In order to help Waste Management’s drivers collect Christmas trees in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, please help by doing the following:

  • Trees should not exceed maximum length allowed for pickup and may require cutting if over 6 feet.
  • Remove any tinsel, lights, or ornaments.
  • Leave your tree at the curb the night before your scheduled pickup day.
  • If applicable, please ensure that your tree is not buried in the snow or frozen to the ground.
