City of Edwardsville Foreign Fire Insurance Board met March 1.

Meeting was called to order at 1305 via Zoom. Members present were Heuchert, Whiteford, Wilfong, Rieger, Kemper and Reiter. Sweetman arrived at 1333.
Visitors Gooden, Lankford and Hall present.
Minutes of the previous meeting read. Motion by Kemper, 2nd by Rieger to approve as presented. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s report presented. Current balance $79,755. Approx $42,088.76 available for this meeting including outstanding approvals and recurring expenses.
Request for Expenditures – New
- Request from Cruz for funds to upgrade the front suspension on 1341 when it is remounted. Suspension would be liquid spring, the same as the rear. Front suspension would integrate with the rear liquid spring that is already spec’d in the current remount proposal. Upgrade would be approx. $5000. Motion by Heuchert, 2nd by Sweetman to approve. Discussion. Remount has not been formally approved by the city yet. Whiteford expressed concern with approving this purchase before the final decision has been made by the city on the remount. Heuchert amended motion to table the request, 2nd by Sweetman. Motion tabled
- Request from Moody for funds to replace the current Reeve’s Sleeves on the ambulances. Current sleeves have been in service for quite some time and are getting worn out. Cost of sleeves is $365 each – total purchase will be $1460. Motion by Reiter, 2nd by Heuchert to approve. Motion carried.
- Request from Whiteford for the board to purchase dress uniforms for Dep Chief McKee and Admin Assistant Roseman. Approx cost is $653 each. Motion by Reiter, 2nd by Heuchert to approve. 5 yes, 2 no. Motion carried.
- Request from Heuchert to purchase new warning lights for 1390. This purchase will be to replace existing lights on the front and fender of the truck that are no longer functioning and add new warning/scene lights to the sides and rear of the camper shell. Quote from Datatronics - $920.00 for lights and up to $300 for installation. Motion by Heuchert, 2nd by Kemper to approve. Discussion. Addition of new lights to the rear will provide additional warning for the truck now that it is being utilized for more than just utility purposes. These lights are dual color that allow for steady white light to be selected from the siren controller which will provide additional scene lighting to the side and rear of the truck on scenes. 6 yes, 1 no. Motion carried.
- Request from Mayfield to purchase an incline bench for the workout room at Station 1. Bench is $785. Motion by Heuchert, 2nd by Reiter to approve. Discussion. Purchase has not been approved by the workout committee as of now. Board recommended taking this purchase to the workout committee for their review and if they deem it necessary, re-submit this request to the board at the next meeting. Motion amended by Heuchert to reflect the same, 2nd by Reiter. 6 yes, 1 no. Motion carried.
- Request from Hall for funds to purchase new cookware for Station 1. Current cookware is getting worn out and needs to be replaced. Requesting up to $500. Motion by Heuchert, 2nd by Sweetman to approve. Discussion. 7 yes, 0 no. Motion carried.
