Congressional hopeful Nikki Budzinski reports she raised more than $475,000 during the recent fourth quarter for her 13th District Democratic primary campaign.
“I am honored and humbled by the support I’ve received since announcing my campaign in August,” Budzinski posted on Facebook. “I am committed to being a champion for working families in Central and Southern Illinois, who for too long haven’t had a voice in Congress. The support I have received allows me to be laser focused on running the kind of issues-based campaign it will take to reach voters and win this district back for working families this November.”
Budzinski, who spent six months working in the Office of Management and Budget last year and previously served as a senior advisor in the governor’s office from January 2019 until March 2020, has already scored the endorsement of the AFL-CIO, which is comprised of over 1,500 affiliated unions that represent over 900,000 members across the state.
“I’ve spent my life fighting for working families,” Budzinski said in a post to Twitter. “From working for the labor movement, to helping pass a $15 min wage in IL, to serving at OMB in the Biden admin to help pass the American Rescue Plan. Now, I want to serve Central Illinois in Congress.”
