Report: Madison School District spent $20,120 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Madison Community Unit School District 12 was up 51.2 percent from five years ago, according to the Metro East Sun analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Madison County school district spent $13,306 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $20,120 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 721 to 631 students over the same period.

Madison's spending in 2019-20 was 38.8 percent higher than the state average of $14,492.
