City of Jerseyville City Council met May 3.

The Jerseyville City Council held their regular meeting at the Jerseyville City Hall at 6:00 p.m. via teleconference due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The public was invited to attend by calling the teleconference phone number.
ROLL CALL: Present were Commissioners Kevin Stork, Steve Pohlman, Zachary Crawford, Nick Bexheti, and Mayor William Russell. City Attorney William Strang was also present.
Comm. Pohlman led the opening prayer and Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
A motion was made by Comm. Stork, seconded by Comm. Bexheti, to approve the minutes from the meeting held Tuesday, April 19, 2022. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.
A motion was made by Comm. Stork, seconded by Comm. Crawford, to approve the bills as presented for May 3, 2022, in the amount of $268,336.54. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.
A motion was made by Comm. Crawford, seconded by Comm. Bexheti, to approve a proclamation recognizing the week of May 1, 2022, through May 7, 2022, as Jerseyville Small Business Week. Roll call voted showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.
A motion was made by Comm. Bexheti, seconded by Comm. Stork, to approve a resolution for Illinois Department of Transportation to close State HWY #67 for the Memorial Day Parade to be held Monday, May 30, 2022, from 8:45 to 10:45 a.m. Mr. Greg Breden was present to speak to the Council and answer any questions. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.
A motion was made by Comm. Stork, seconded by Comm. Crawford, to approve a tourism grant application request in the amount of $2,200.00 for the Jersey County Historical Society of the annual Apple Festival to be held Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 601 North State. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.
A motion was made by Comm. Stork, seconded by Comm. Bexheti, to approve the reappointment of Chris Collins, Scott Woelfel, and Robert Gowin to the Fire Pension Board, terms to expire May 14, 2024. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.
A motion was made by Comm. Stork, seconded by Comm. Bexheti, to approve the application of a Large Project Commercial Grant Application submitted by Josh Evans, owner of 103 and 105 N. State Street, for façade improvements as recommended by the TIF Advisory Board. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried. Director of Building and Zoning Jeff Soer informed the Council Mr. Evans purchased this building and is planning to renovate the exterior façade to the original era. Roll call voted showed all voted aye, nays, motion carried.
A motion was made by Comm. Stork, seconded by Comm. Bexheti, to follow the recommendation of the TIF Advisory Board and not approve the Large Project Commercial Grant application submitted by Chris Reynolds for façade improvements at 617 Maple St. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.
Under new business, Mayor Russell reminded the public of Rock the Block being held this Friday and announced there was a ribbon cutting ceremony today for the Job Center located on West Pearl that he attended.
No public comment.
Being no other business to be discussed, a motion was made by Comm. Stork, seconded by Comm. Bexheti, to adjourn the meeting at 6:16 p.m. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.
