Sen. Jason Plummer (R-Vandalia) said he is “honored and humbled” to be chosen to serve on the Illinois Republican State Central Committee.
Plummer, who represents the 15th District, announced his election to the Committee in an Aug. 1 Facebook post.
“Reform is long overdue at the Illinois Republican Party and I will be a strong, independent, and conservative voice for change at the state party,” Plummer wrote. “It is time the Illinois GOP represents the wants and needs of Republican voters rather than the wants and needs of certain elected officials, consultants, and staffers. It's all all about performance and accountability to the voters - the grifting and insider games must end.”
In his Facebook post, Plummer shared a link from the Illinois GOP announcing the election of the new members of the Illinois Republican State Central Committee which he said is “essentially the Board of Directors of the Illinois GOP.” The other members are: Tim Ozinga, 1st District; Judy Diekelman, 2nd District; Jeanne Ives, 3rd District; Jay Reyes, 4th District; Aaron Del Mar, 5th District; Sean Morrison, 6th District; Mark Hosty, 7th District; Vacant, 8th District; Joan LaSonde, 9th District; Mark Shaw, 10th District; Laura Pollastrini, 11th District; Rhonda Belford, 12th District; Tim Butler, 13th District; Larry Smith, 14th District; Jan Weber, 16th District; and Chad Weaver, 17th District.
Plummer used social media in early June to criticize the impact Democrats have had on Illinois, writing in a Facebook post, “What makes us different from our friends and neighbors in Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Kentucky? Unnecessarily high gas prices, out of control crime, corruption, high taxes, busted budgets, and free feminine hygiene products in boys' school bathrooms, to name a few things, all brought to you by out of touch Democrat majorities. Remember this in November.”
Plummer announced on July 26 that he received an endorsement by the Illinois State Rifle Association, noting, “As a gun owner and a person who has tremendous respect for our nation's history, I will always be a strong supporter of the #secondamendment at the State Capitol.”
