Women's Bowling Set to Compete at This Weekend's MOTIV Ladyjack Classic

The top-ranked McKendree University women's bowling team will continue the fall portion of its 2022-23 season here this weekend as the Bearcats compete at the MOTIV Ladyjack Classic hosted by fourth-ranked Stephen F. Austin and held here at Sheridan Lanes.

A total of 14 teams will be competing in this weekend's tournament, including a total of nine teams ranked in the Preseason National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Top 25 poll, including six of the teams ranked inside the Top 10. The list of teams joining the Bearcats this weekend includes No. 2 Vanderbilt, No. 3 Nebraska, No. 4 Stephen F. Austin, No. 6 Arkansas State, No. 9 Youngstown State, No. 15 Maryville (Mo.), No. 20 Lewis University and No. 25 Newman (Kan.) University. The other teams competing are Carthage (Wis.) College, Marian (Wis.) University, North Central (Ill.) College, Wisconsin-Whitewater and Valparaiso.

McKendree will begin the tournament on Friday at 10:35 a.m. with five sets of five-game Baker matches, before playing five traditional games on Saturday beginning at 9:35 a.m. The combined results from Friday and Saturday will determine the seeding for Sunday's bracket-play championship tournament, where each team will compete in best-of-seven Baker matches beginning at 8:30 a.m.

In Friday's Baker games, the Bearcats will begin with a match against Lewis, before facing Marian (Wis.), Nebraska, Stephen F. Austin and then concluding Baker play with a match against Vanderbilt. In Saturday's traditional games, the Bearcats will face Valparaiso, Wisconsin-Whitewater, North Central, Arkansas State and conclude with Carthage.At last season's MOTIV Ladyjack Classic, the Bearcats went 10-2 and finished second overall following a 4-0 loss in the championship match of bracket play to the University of Nebraska. In addition to its second place team finish, seniors Maranda Pattison (Redwood Valley, Calif./Ukiah Independent) and Rebecca Hagerman (Loves Park, Ill./Harlem) finished third and fourth on the individual standings to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
