McKendree University men's and women's swimming & diving program head coach Jimmy Tierney has recently announced the signing of four recruits for the 2023-24 school year.
 
The four signees are Samuel Graeme Davey and Come Jaegle for the men's program and Chiara Fuerst and Helena Kurtz for the women's program.
 
Along with the signing of the four new recruits for 2023-34, Tierney has also announced the addition of Gabriela Novais Lima to the women's team roster for the 2023 second semester.
 
Davey comes to McKendree from Urbandale, Iowa, where he competes in swimming at Waukee Northwest High School. He holds the school's record in the 200 backstroke and is also a three-time finalist in the 200 backstroke at the Iowa LC Championships as he swims with the DSMY Marlins. Additionally, he is an Iowa State Champion and a High School All-American. Davie is expected to major in business at McKendree. Has recorded personal best times of 21.89 in the 50 freestyle, 48.45 in the 100 freestyle, 1:42.75 in the 200 freestyle, 24.71 in the 50 backstroke, 51.20 in the 100 backstroke, 1:51.06 in the 200 backstroke and 30.95 in the 50 breaststroke. All of his times are in yards.
 
Jaegle comes to McKendree from Fourqueux, France, where he competes for CNO St. Germain en Laye Club Team. He was the French champion in both the 100 and 200 freestyles and also competes in the breaststroke and butterfly. At the 2022 French National Championships, he recorded a first place time of 1:53.50 in the 200 freestyle. His personal best times are 30.20 in the 50 breaststroke, 1:11.29 in the 100 breaststroke and 26.89 in the 50 butterfly. All of his times are in meters.
 
Fuerst comes to McKendree from Vienna, Austria, where she competes for the Austrian Swimming Federation. In addition, she attends Borg Linz High School. Fuerst primarily swims the breaststroke and has recorded personal best times of 33.99 in the 50 breaststroke, 1:15.06 in the 100 breaststroke and 2:46.08 in the 200 breaststroke. She is expected to major in Biopsychology at McKendree. All of his times are in meters.
 
Kurtz comes to McKendree from Mission Viejo, Calif., where she competes in swimming at Capistrano Valley High School. At the 2021 Sea View League Championships, Kurtz was first in the 100 freestyle and second in the 50 freestyle. Additionally, she was first in the 100 butterfly and second in the freestyle at the 2022 Sea View League Championship and she also holds the school record in the 100 butterfly. She qualified for the CIF State Championship in 2022. Her personal best marks of 24.16 in the 50 freestyle, 52.86 in the 100 freestyle, 1:58.93 in the 200 freestyle, 27.76 in the 50 backstroke, 58.68 in the 100 backstroke, 34.05 in the 50 breaststroke and 26.24 in the 50 butterfly and 2:08.87 in the 200 IM.
 
Meanwhile, Lima comes to McKendree from Sao Paulo, Brazil, where she attended Colegio Amorim and swam for SESI-SP Club. She is the champion in the 50 freestyle and was the runner-up in the 100 breaststroke in the Brazilian State Championships. She was also fourth in the 50 freestyle and sixth in the 100 breaststroke in her age group in Brazil. Lima also was on the podium in the 50 breaststroke, 100 breaststroke, 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 medley and 100 medley in the State Championships of her age group. Has recorded personal best times of 26.00 in the 50 freestyle, 57.57 in the 100 freestyle, 32.95 in the 50 breaststroke, 1:13.82 in the 100 breaststroke and 2:29.48 in the 200 IM. She is expected to major in business administration at McKendree. All of her times are in meters.
