Metro East Sun

There were 57 offenders living in Madison County released on parole during the second quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Metro East Sun.

The data shows 55 men and two women were released in Madison County. Of the parolees, two were veterans, and the median age was 38. The youngest parolee was a 22-year-old man sentenced for a property crime in 2019, and the oldest was a 57-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving drugs in 2021.

The offender incarcerated the longest was Willie L. Carter. He was convicted of a property crime in 2014 when he was 41 years old. He is now 50.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
