Q4 2021 Recap: 3 parolees from St. Clair County convicted of homicide set for release

There were three offenders convicted of homicide living in St. Clair County released on parole during the fourth quarter of 2021, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Metro East Sun.

The data shows all of the released offenders among the parolees were men. Of the parolees sentenced for homicide, one was a veteran, and the median age was 32. The youngest parolee was a 26-year-old man sentenced in 2019, and the oldest was a 63-year-old man sentenced in 2015.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was George Bricking Jr. He was convicted in 2015 when he was 55 years old. He is now 63.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
