The majority of students in Madison County district's were white in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Illinois State Board of Education.

Of the 38,452 students attending Madison County district schools, 70.5% were white. African American students were the second largest ethnicity, making up 13.8% of Madison County's districts students.

In the previous school year, white students were the most common group in Madison County districts, representing 71.6% of the student body.
