City of Edwardsville Public Safety Committee met Aug. 8.

The Edwardsville Public Safety Committee meeting was called to order by Alderman SJ Morrison at 5:30 p.m. in the Governor Edwards Conference Room, 118 Hillsboro Avenue with a quorum present.
Public Comment: None
Approval of Minutes:
• Motion by Alderman SJ Morrison, second by Alderwoman Miracle to approve minutes from the Public Safety Committee meeting held Tuesday, July 25, 2023.
Discussion: None
MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
Police Department: None
Fire Department:
Action Item(s):
• Motion by Alderman SJ Morrison, second by Alderwoman Miracle for "Approval of a Resolution Authorizing the Sole Source Purchase of 2023 Ford F550 Crew Cab 4x4 with Service Body and Associated Equipment at a cost not to exceed $86,888.90".
Discussion:
- Correction to the not to exceed price to $85,889.00
- The aging 2007 Ford F250 is scheduled for replacement and is in need of expensive engine repairs. The cost of the engine repairs exceeds one half the value of the vehicle.
o Rebuild the engine ($12,000 - $16,000)
o Replace with new engine ($20,000)
o Buy new vehicle
- Funded through the Capital Equipment Fund and Fire Department operations budget
Action:
- Chief Whiteford to remove the Sole Source Purchase from the resolution because this is a State of Illinois Department of Central Management Services Joint Purchasing Contract through Morrow Brothers Ford in Greenville, Illinois.
