The Holiday Food Drive, organized by State Representative Amy Elik, is coming to a close today after a successful run since December 5th. Residents of Alton and surrounding areas have been generously contributing non-perishable food items at Elik's district office located at 192 Alton Square Mall Dr., Suite C.

The food drive has been a collaborative effort to support the Crisis Food Center in Alton, which provides essential resources to those in need. Elik's office has been accepting donations between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Elik expressed her gratitude to the community for their participation in the food drive, stating, "I am overwhelmed by the generosity and compassion shown by the residents of Alton. Their support will make a significant difference in the lives of individuals and families who are struggling during this holiday season."

The Crisis Food Center, the recipient of the collected non-perishable food items, also extended their appreciation to Elik and the community for their efforts. Executive Director, Sarah Johnes, commented, "We are grateful for the continuous support we receive from State Representative Amy Elik and the community. The donated food items will help us meet the increased demand for assistance during this time of year."

The Holiday Food Drive has been a means for the community to come together and make a positive impact on the lives of others. The generosity displayed by the residents of Alton exemplifies the true spirit of the holiday season.

As the collection comes to an end today at 4:30 pm, there is still time for those who wish to contribute to drop off their non-perishable food items at Elik's district office. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference in supporting those in need.

Elik encourages everyone to participate in this final push, stating, "Let's make the last day of the food drive count. Your donations will bring hope and nourishment to individuals and families in our community."

With the conclusion of the Holiday Food Drive, the donated non-perishable food items will soon be distributed to those in need through the Crisis Food Center. This collective effort will undoubtedly bring relief and comfort to numerous households during the holiday season.

The success of the Holiday Food Drive serves as a reminder of the power of community and the importance of extending a helping hand to those who are less fortunate. As the year comes to a close, let us continue to support one another and foster a spirit of giving that transcends the holiday season.
