State Senator Erica Harriss is calling on the community to participate in her annual Valentines for Seniors Card Drive, which aims to bring joy and support to area seniors. The initiative, running until February 5, 2024, encourages individuals and groups to create homemade cards that will be distributed to nursing homes, assisted-living facilities, and other long-term care facilities in the 56th Senate District.

Expressing her motivation behind the card drive, Senator Harriss stated, "I want to make sure these residents don't feel unloved or forgotten about on a day focused on love." She recognizes the importance of showing love and support to seniors in the community, particularly those who may be feeling isolated or alone.

The senator is inviting students, scout groups, churches, families, and other organizations to participate in this meaningful initiative. By creating homemade cards, participants have the opportunity to demonstrate their care and appreciation for the seniors in their community.

Senator Harriss' District Office, located at 120 North Main Street, Suite 1B, Edwardsville, will serve as the drop-off point for the cards. The office will have a drop box available during normal business hours, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. For after-hour drop-offs, a small mailbox will be conveniently placed outside the office.

The Valentines for Seniors Card Drive offers a simple yet impactful way to make a difference in the lives of seniors. By taking the time to create a heartfelt card, community members can help brighten the day of someone who may be in need of a reminder that they are loved and valued.
