-Solicitors – Per City Code (4-4C-1), Any person who shall go in and upon private residences, business establishments or offices in the city for the purpose of soliciting orders for the purchase of any merchandise or commodity, or for the purpose of accepting contributions for any purpose or for the purpose of distribution of information literature which may eventually lead to a sale of any merchandise or commodity shall be deemed a “solicitor” and must obtain a license from the City of Jerseyville and pay license fee after having completed a background check with the Police Department. Hours to solicit are limited to Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. only. Residents should always ask to see a solicitor’s City of Jerseyville issued license at the first initial contact. Any concerns should be made known to the Police Department 618-498-2131 or City Hall 618-498-3312.

-Deadline to register for TBall, Pitching Machine, and 10u-14u Baseball/Softball is March 23rd. The following options are available to register: Pick up registration form at Recreation Office located at 515 Mound Street, print registration form from JCUSD 100 Virtual Backpack, or online at www.signupville.com

-Solar Eclipse Monday, April 8th – A total solar eclipse will be visible from much of southern Illinois starting at 12:45 p.m. with Jerseyville seeing 97% coverage of the sun at 2:01 p.m. A limited supply of the ISOcertified eclipse glasses will be available at City Hall that will allow you to safely view the eclipse. Stop by City Hall to pick up glasses before April 8th and watch the eclipse with fellow amateur astronomers at the Library or any public spaces in town.
