Catholic Vote President Brian Burch said Edwardsville School District’s decision to spend $6.8 million on gender neutral bathrooms is one of many “insane policies being instituted” in public school systems.

"If there is anyone out there that still doubts the potential for ever more insane policies being instituted in our public schools, take a look at this district in Illinois,” Burch said to Metro East Sun. “What this also demonstrates is how many school districts misuse tax dollars by the boatload."

A post from X user Libs of TikTok shared the announcement after the school board vote. Both male and female students would be able to use these facilities indiscriminately.

“Now boys and girls will be able to hang out inside the bathroom area. What could possibly go wrong?!” the post read. “Not only will this endanger students, but it also reeks of corruption.”

The Edwardsville School Board approved a vote on March 25, allocating $6.8 million dollars to build new "gender-neutral" bathrooms. The "common area" facilities would have enclosed bathroom stalls with lights over them to indicate if they are in use or not, and the sinks would be in the middle of the bathrooms for all students to use.

Madison, Wisconsin-based Catholic Vote is an advocacy organization that wants to “inspire every Catholic in America to live out the truths of our faith in public life,” according to the group’s website. Founded in 2008, its president is Brian Burch.
