World Elder Abuse Awareness Day highlights the estimated 1 to 2 million Americans over the age of 65 who are abused by someone they depend on for care each year. Advocacy efforts emphasize the importance of recognizing signs of abuse, educating others, and advocating for elders.

"Remaining aware of the signs, educating others, and advocating for the elders in our own lives" are steps everyone can take to combat elder abuse.
