Illinois State Representative Kevin Schmidt visited Scott Air Force Base today to witness Major General Corey J. Martin relinquish command of the 18th Air Force to Major General Charles D. Bolton.
As the sole numbered air force under Air Mobility Command, the 18th Air Force ensures the readiness and sustainment of approximately 36,000 active duty, Air Force Reserve, and civilian personnel across 12 wings and one direct reporting unit. With a fleet exceeding 400 aircraft, the 18th AF supports AMC’s mission of providing rapid global mobility through airlift, airdrop, aerial refueling, and aeromedical evacuation.
“I want to thank Major General Corey J. Martin for his years of service to this country. Since graduating from the Air Force Academy in 1991, he has had a career full of service, leadership, and devotion,” said Rep. Schmidt. “I wish Major General Charles D. Bolton the best of luck in leading the 18th Air Force and send warm wishes to him and his family as they embark on this journey.”
