The House of Representatives has passed four bipartisan bills aimed at improving services for veterans. House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Mike Bost (R-Ill.) commented on the passage, highlighting the benefits these bills will bring to veterans and their families.
“Each of the bipartisan bills the House passed this week would expand economic and education opportunities for veterans and their families by cutting back the red tape and making programs at VA work better for them,” said Chairman Bost. “From expanding training for veterans to enter the trucking industry, to reducing the costs for veterans who want to become pilots, to cutting fees for service-connected veterans who need a specially adapted vehicle, to implementing a call back customer service system at VA, these are the modern improvements House Republicans are fighting for every day. I want to thank Representatives Van Orden, Kean, Calvert, Edwards, Senator Fischer, and Delegate Moylan for their work on each of these bills, and I look forward to seeing them signed into law soon.”
The four bills that were passed include:
- H.R. 7323 – Montgomery GI Bill Selected Reserves Tuition Fairness Act of 2024 (Rep. Van Orden)
- H.R. 6656 – Stuck on Hold Act (Rep. Calvert)
- S. 656 – Veteran Improvement Commercial Driver License Act of 2023 (Sen. Fischer/Rep. Edwards)
- H.R. 522 – Deliver for Veterans Act (Del. Moylan)
These measures aim to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and improve access to various programs designed to assist veterans in areas such as education and employment.
