Kevin Schmidt has provided an update on his recent activities and ongoing initiatives in the 114th District. He highlighted his participation in several events, including a Change of Command ceremony at Scott Air Force Base, celebrations for a grant in Mascoutah, the opening of new electric vehicle chargers in Cahokia Heights, and a youth mental health panel in East St. Louis.

In Smithton, Schmidt worked with the state to install a sign honoring the 2024 SIJHSAA Class M Girls Basketball Champions. This initiative aims to recognize and celebrate local achievements.

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is currently accepting applications until August 15, 2025, or until funds are depleted. The program provides financial assistance for energy bills to income-qualified households. More information can be found at helpillinoisfamilies.com.

Schmidt also encouraged nominations for the Golden Owl Award, which recognizes outstanding agricultural teachers. Nominations are open until November 15. Details are available at ilaged.org/goa.

October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The focus is on raising awareness about breast cancer and stressing the importance of early detection. Schmidt invites residents to explore Illinois's fall foliage using Enjoy Illinois’ Fall Colors Trip Planner Map.

He expressed hope that constituents enjoy the fall season and reminded them that his office is available for assistance with any concerns related to Illinois' agencies.
