California's proposal to offer housing assistance to undocumented immigrants has sparked discussions about immigration policies across the United States. The proposed legislation in California would allow undocumented immigrants to access state-backed home loans of up to $150,000. This move has drawn attention amid ongoing debates over how states manage immigration issues.

The spotlight is also on Illinois, a state known for its sanctuary status for undocumented immigrants. The Illinois TRUST Act, enacted in 2017, prohibits law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration authorities concerning an individual's immigration status unless a federal criminal warrant is present.

As Chicago deals with its own migrant crisis, questions arise about whether Illinois might consider similar housing assistance measures.
