On May 22, 2025, Rep. Bost announced the passage of a budget plan in the House of Representatives. He stated, "After working hard through the night, I’m proud to say the People’s House has passed the budget plan President Trump needs to deliver on his promises to the American people." He expressed hope that the final bill would reach President Trump's desk by Independence Day.
Later that day, Rep. Bost posted about Speaker Johnson's role in passing what he referred to as "One Big, Beautiful Bill." He shared an image and remarked, "After a full night’s work on the 'One Big, Beautiful Bill,' I snapped this photo of Speaker Johnson as he stepped down from the rostrum announcing its passage in the House."
In another post on May 22, 2025, Rep. Bost reported on a violent attack involving Israeli diplomats in Washington. He wrote: "Last night, a deranged assassin shouting 'Free Palestine' gunned down two Israeli diplomats – Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim – a young couple set to be engaged." The incident occurred outside an event at the Capital Jewish Museum.
Mike Bost has been active in public service for several decades. Prior to his current role in Congress, he served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1995 to 2015 and was part of the Jackson County Board from 1984 to 1988.
