U.S. Representative Mike Bost from Illinois' 12th district has voted in favor of a House reconciliation bill that is part of a larger budget package. The bill aims to provide permanent tax relief, enhance border security, and improve accountability in government spending. President Trump described the legislation as "one big, beautiful bill." Having passed the House, it will now proceed to the Senate with hopes of being finalized by Independence Day.
Representative Bost stated, "President Trump and Republican majorities in Congress were elected to lower taxes, end illegal immigration, and reform a bloated bureaucracy. This bill does all three while protecting Social Security for seniors and ensuring Medicaid goes to vulnerable U.S. citizens – not illegal immigrants. I am proud to do my part to help President Trump advance the America First agenda and deliver on our promises to the American people."
The proposed legislation includes several measures such as ending taxes on tips and overtime, reducing taxes on Social Security benefits for seniors, fully funding 701 miles of Trump's border wall along with 900 miles of river barriers, and funding additional personnel for immigration enforcement agencies. It also seeks to modernize air traffic control systems and eliminate taxpayer-funded sex change operations while removing 1.4 million illegal immigrants from Medicaid.
