New York City has recently initiated a program offering free travel tickets to migrants, aiming to encourage relocation. Among the preferred destinations, Illinois ranked second after Texas, with 8.5% of participants selecting the state as their new home.

Illinois has become appealing to non-citizens due to policies such as free healthcare benefits, driver's licenses, and housing assistance. However, there are concerns about the financial burden these policies place on taxpayers.

The focus remains on addressing the needs of Illinois citizens and ensuring support for vulnerable populations while providing relief to taxpayers.
