FOIA Request to Granite City City Council Regarding Detailed Information of All Council Members on October 15, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Metro East Sun have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the Granite City City Council.
Our request seeks detailed information about all council members. Specifically, we are asking for the following fields: Name, Title, Year Appointed, Term (2 or 4 years), and Term Expire Date. We believe that access to this information is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
We have requested this information preferably in an electronic format for ease of access and dissemination. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as per standard practices.
