FOIA Request to Mascoutah City Council Regarding Detailed Information on Council Members on October 15, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Metro East Sun have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Mascoutah City Council in Illinois.
Our request seeks access to public records that include a list of all council members along with specific details such as their names, titles, the year they were appointed, their term length (2 or 4 years), and the date when their term expires.
We believe that access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested for a fee waiver as media professionals.
