FOIA Request to Alton City Council Regarding Detailed Information of All Council Members on October 15, 2024.
As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Metro East Sun have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. The request was sent to the Alton City Council in Illinois and seeks detailed information about all council members.
The requested data includes each council member's name, title, year of appointment, term length (2 or 4 years), and term expiration date. We believe that this information is essential for holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role as a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver for this information. We are eagerly awaiting a response from the Alton City Council and will continue our efforts to keep the public informed about their local government officials.
