House Republicans have proposed a new bill aimed at securing funding for programs such as Meals on Wheels. The legislation, known as HB 5911, proposes reallocating $25 million from migrant welcoming centers to the Home Delivered Meals Program. This move is intended to ensure that seniors continue receiving essential meal services.

State Representative Charlie Meier has been named a Chief Co-Sponsor of this legislation. Meier stated, "I’ve worked with my colleagues in the House to keep BCMW Community Center able to provide critical services to our seniors, like Meals on Wheels." He further emphasized the importance of the bill by saying, "HB 5911 would move $25 million from money that the state is spending on migrants to support the Home Delivered Meals Program. Our seniors rely on these services; we have to make sure they’re fed!"
