City of O'Fallon Library Board met Nov. 11

The meeting took place at the O’Fallon Public Library in O’Fallon, IL. Vice President Linda Mitchell called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Roll Call: Linda Mitchell; present, Doug Distler; present, Charla Morton; present, Vern Hamm; present, Larry Morrison; present, Liz Jennings; present, May Brown; present, Beth Rowling; present. Suzanne Rupright was excused. Special guests were Mayor Herb Roach, OTHS student representatives Sadeem and Sadeel Alqadi and patron Cari Schaeffer.
Consent Agenda: A motion was made by L. Jennings and seconded by V. Hamm to accept the consent agenda. All ayes. Motion carried.
October Bills: A motion was made by C. Morton and seconded by L. Morrison to approve the presented bills for payment. Roll call: L. Mitchell; aye, C. Morton; aye, D. Distler; aye, L. Jennings; aye, L. Morrison; aye, V. Hamm; aye, M. Brown; aye and B. Rowling; aye. All ayes. Motion carried.
Public Comment: The new student trustees Sadeem and Sadeel Alqadi introduced themselves. They want to work towards making more connections between OTHS and the O’Fallon Library.
Unfinished Business: A motion was made by L. Jennings and seconded by C. Morton to increase the tax levy to $1,380,200. Roll Call: Linda Mitchell; aye, Doug Distler; nay, Charla Morton; aye, Larry Morrison; nay, Liz Jenning; aye, Vern Hamm; nay, May Brown; nay, Beth Rowling; nay. 3 ayes, 5 nays. Motion failed.
A motion was made by M. Brown and seconded by L. Mitchell to increase the tax levy by $1,366,800. Roll Call: Linda Mitchell; aye, Doug Distler; nay, Charla Morton; nay, Larry Morrison; nay, Liz Jennings; nay, Vern Hamm; nay, May Brown; aye, Beth Rowling; nay. 2 ayes, 6 nays. Motion failed.
A motion was made by D. Distler and seconded by B. Rowling to increase the tax levy to $1,406,987. Roll Call: Linda Mitchell; aye, Doug Distler; aye, Charla Morton; aye, Vern Hamm; aye, Larry Morrison; aye, Liz Jennings; aye, May Brown; nay and Beth Rowling; aye. 7 ayes, 1 nay. Motion carried.
New Business: A motion was made by L. Jennings and seconded by C. Morton to start next month’s meeting at 6pm. The public will be notified of time change. All ayes. Motion carried.
