State Representative Kevin Schmidt has continued his commitment to supporting local communities by donating his December pay raise to Press Play x 2 Shinn. This donation, given in the form of food, is part of Schmidt's ongoing effort to aid various food pantries and non-profit organizations within his district. Since voting against a legislative pay raise last year, he has consistently redirected the equivalent amount each month to local causes.

“I’m passionate about fighting food insecurity,” Schmidt stated. “When the legislature voted themselves a pay raise last year, I decided to give the amount of the raise each month to a local organization that’s trying to help feed the hungry. Our local food pantries and charities need our help, and I’m going to keep helping the people I represent.”

Press Play x 2 Shinn Inc., established by Nancy Nixon in East St. Louis, was inspired by personal loss. In memory of her two children, Nixon and volunteers prepare and distribute meals during Thanksgiving and Christmas from her home kitchen.

The availability of food and household goods remains crucial for community welfare. Resources are accessible for those facing financial difficulties or ongoing challenges. Kevin Schmidt serves as the representative for Illinois' 114th District, covering parts of St. Clair County. For further inquiries regarding Rep. Schmidt, contact his office at 618-215-1050.
