Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) hospitals in Illinois have announced the most popular names for babies born at their southern Illinois locations in 2024. At HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, "Oliver" maintained its position as the top boy name since 2020, while "Amelia" has been the leading girl name since 2022.
At HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese, "Oliver" and "Theodore" tied for the top boy names, with "Ivy" being the most chosen name for girls. These names were selected from over 1,200 babies delivered at these hospitals throughout the year.
Expectant parents looking forward to 2025 can access a variety of services at both St. Elizabeth’s and St. Joseph’s hospitals. These include prenatal classes available on their respective websites under Classes and Events.
Both hospitals are committed to providing safe and quality care for mothers and infants. St. Elizabeth’s Hospital has recently introduced an Obstetric Emergency Department (OB ED) to assist pregnant patients with emergencies related to pregnancy or postpartum issues. They have also added an OB/Gyn Hospitalist program.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph’s Hospital has received The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care, which acknowledges its comprehensive and patient-centered approach to managing both uncomplicated and complicated pregnancies and births.
