Rep. Mike Bost, who represents Illinois’ 12th district in the U.S. Congress, shared updates on his official X account this week, addressing local engagement opportunities and issues facing Southern Illinois.
On July 21, Bost announced a public outreach event: "Going live with our telephone town hall now! If you can, feel free to join us by dialing in at (833) 364-1476."
The following day, he highlighted infrastructure challenges for farmers in his district: "For farmers in Southern Illinois, the rural roads used to haul grain for weighing or to transport feed and fertilizer are often narrow, weight-limited, and in disrepair. These first-mile and last-mile connections are just as important as the highways they lead to. That’s why" (July 22).
On July 23, Bost paid tribute to a local figure: "Many Southern Illinoisans will recognize the name Ray Doerr, who passed away earlier this month at the blessed age of 98. Ray was the one of the first people who encouraged me to get involved in public service, and I will always be grateful for his mentorship and counsel. His"
Bost has represented Illinois's 12th District since 2015 after serving two decades in the Illinois House of Representatives and previously on the Jackson County Board. He was born in Murphysboro, Illinois in 1960 and continues to reside there.
