Rep. Mike Bost, who has been serving Illinois’ 12th district in the U.S. Congress since 2015, has expressed his positions on several legislative and diplomatic initiatives through recent tweets. Born in Murphysboro, Illinois, Bost has a long history of political service, including previous roles in the Illinois House of Representatives and the Jackson County Board.
On March 30, 2025, Bost stated his views on Medicaid being provided to illegal immigrants in certain states. "There are six liberal states plus D.C. that provide Medicaid for illegal immigrants. You might not be shocked to learn that Illinois is one of them. I was proud to cosponsor the No Medicaid For Illegal Immigrants Act, which will make sure Medicaid only goes to American citizens."
The following day, March 31, 2025, Bost shared his engagement in international relations. "I was honored Speaker Johnson selected me to lead a bipartisan Congressional Delegation to Japan over the weekend to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima. Japan is a key partner in promoting security and economic security."
