State Senator Erica Harriss recently organized her annual Free Community Shred Event and Clean-Up Day, which took place at the Wood River Police Department.

Despite adverse cold and rainy weather conditions, the event was well-attended with over 150 cars participating. Residents from the 56th District took advantage of the opportunity to securely shred unwanted documents and make donations to local charities.

Expressing her gratitude, Senator Harriss acknowledged the contributions of several organizations that participated this year: "I Support the Girls – Edwardsville, the Metro East Humane Society, the Glen-Ed Pantry, Wood River Parks and Recreation, the Wood River Police Department, Soles4Souls, and the Lions Club."

The event not only provided a chance for attendees to dispose of documents safely but also focused on supporting community welfare through the collection of charitable donations.
