City of Collinsville Community Appearance Board met April 9
Here are the minutes provided by the board:
A. CALL TO ORDER:
Brown, Sr. called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm.
B. ROLL CALL
Present: (11) Dia Bolandis, Deb Brown, Brion Brown Sr., Brion Brown Jr., Michelle Brown, Joe Calza, Liz Dalton, Susan Hellige, Ken Jones, Judy Nelson, Misty Stahl, and Amanda Zika.
Absent: (1) Ken Jones
Also Present: Director of Parks and Recreation Kimberly Caughran

D. DISCUSSION
E. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Dalton, seconded by Michelle Brown to approve the minutes of the March 12, 2025, meeting. The motion was carried by a unanimous vote.

F. NEW BUSINESS
Brown, Jr. spoke about the Arbor Day tree planting at Willoughby Farm. He has spoken with the principal at Summit Elementary School. There will be a first-grade class that will walk to Willoughby Farm for a noon tree planting.
G. OLD BUSINESS
a. 2025 Projects
i. Beltline/Highway 159 Island: Dia reported that she has weeded, preened, sprayed and trashed the island. The border replacement and the grass thinned will take place after the litter cleanup on 4/26.
ii. West Main Street/ Westmoreland Island: Nelson and Stahl cleaned up the area and requested mulch for the island. Stahl noted that there are a few additional piles that need cleaned up.
iii. St. Louis Road/Caseyville Road Island: Barney reported the weather has been uncooperative. He will spray it soon.
iv. Listemann Park: Volunteers from Glik’s planted at Listemann with Dalton.
v. Uptown Area: Dalton will wait until the weather breaks to plant in the first part of May.
vi. Century Oak: Nelson reported that her fall cleanup was very thorough.
vii. Litter Pick Up: April 26 at 7:00 am will be the next litter pick up for the Board.
b. New Ideas for Yard of the Month Winners
Zika updated the board members on prices and items to be engraved for each winner. The engraving would state” Yard of the Month, Month, Year with the simplified City logo. Nelson made a motion to move forward with the new garden sign for yard of the month prizes, seconded by Deb Brown. The motion carried unanimously.

H. STAFF REPORT
Caughran reported the Listemann looks great after the volunteer work. She continued that the City has received Tree City USA designation for the 31st year. She spoke about the WEEDing Day and Arbor Day/Plant Sale at the Collins House on April 26 as well as the City-wide yard sales on the same weekend.
I. COMMENTS FROM COMMISSION MEMBERS
The next meeting will be held on May 7 due to several schedule conflicts.
