mike bost discusses key issues: fentanyl crisis, farm bill priorities, child protection act

Rep. Mike Bost, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Illinois' 12th district, has been active on social media discussing various legislative issues and initiatives. His recent posts reflect his concerns and actions regarding drug control, agricultural priorities, and child welfare.

On June 4, 2025, Rep. Bost addressed the issue of fentanyl as a leading cause of death for Americans aged 18 to 45. He highlighted that "this dangerous drug flowed into our country during the Biden administration." He referenced past efforts under President Trump with the signing of the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act in 2018 to combat this issue. "Fentanyl is one of the leading causes of death for Americans aged 18 to 45, and this dangerous drug flowed into our country during the Biden administration. Back in 2018, President Trump signed into law the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act, which helps fight fentanyl".

In another post dated June 5, 2025, Rep. Bost reported on a meeting with members of the National Grain and Feed Association. The meeting included discussions on priorities for the Farm Bill and conservation programs. Among those present were Samuel Glenn from Eldorado and Austin McWhorter from Effingham. "I had a productive meeting with members of the National Grain and Feed Association, including two Southern Illinoisans – Samuel Glenn from Eldorado and Austin McWhorter from Effingham. We discussed priorities for the Farm Bill and the need for smart conservation programs that".

On June 6, 2025, Rep. Bost announced his co-sponsorship of legislation aimed at protecting minors from gender transition procedures he described as dangerous. The proposed Protecting Children from Experimentation Act seeks to halt practices involving puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones due to potential permanent health impacts on children. "I am cosponsoring the Protecting Children from Experimentation Act to put a stop to dangerous gender transition procedures on minors, like puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones. These procedures can do permanent damage to their physical and mental health."

Mike Bost has served in Congress since replacing Gerald Hawkins in 2015 after previously serving in both local government roles within Illinois.
