Rep. Mike Bost, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Illinois’ 12th district since 2015, recently shared several messages on social media reflecting on national observances and personal memories.
On June 14, 2025, Rep. Bost extended greetings to his constituents in Southern Illinois on Flag Day. He remarked, "Wishing everyone in Southern Illinois a happy Flag Day! On June 14th, 248 years ago, the Stars and Stripes were officially adopted by the Continental Congress. Today we honor our great nation’s greatest symbol, and all that Old Glory represents."
The following day, June 15, 2025, he commemorated Father's Day with a heartfelt message about his late father. He tweeted, "Happy Father’s Day to all the dads in Southern Illinois! It’s been almost three years now since we lost my father, Gene, but we think about him every day. His legacy lives on, and I know he’s looking down proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren." In this message, Bost reflected on the lasting influence of his father.
Later that same day, Rep. Bost shared his participation in a vigil held earlier in the week at the U.S. Capitol steps. The event honored Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky, victims of a tragic incident outside the Capital Jewish Museum on May 21st. He stated "Earlier this week I attended a solemn vigil on the steps of the U.S. Capitol honoring the memory of Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky... We must work to root antisemitic hatred."
Mike Bost was born in Murphysboro, Illinois in 1960 and continues to reside there today.
