The Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant program is now open for applications, with a deadline set for September 30, 2025. The program provides state-funded grants to local government agencies to help acquire or develop land for public parks and open spaces. These projects can include anything from small neighborhood parks to larger community, county parks, and nature areas. Funding comes from a portion of Illinois' Real Estate Transfer Tax.
Grant awards can reach up to $1,725,000 for land acquisition projects. For development or renovation projects, the maximum grant available is $600,000. The process is competitive and applicants must meet all eligibility requirements.
