U.S. Representative Mike Bost (IL-12) announced that Lawrence County will receive a $300,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The grant, provided through the Rural Communities Opioid Response Program, is intended to improve overdose response efforts in the region.
“Far too many families in Southern Illinois have felt the devastating impact of the opioid crisis,” said Bost. “This funding will help Lawrence County expand its response efforts, save lives, and provide much-needed resources to combat addiction in our communities.”
Bost has served as a representative for Illinois's 12th congressional district since first winning election in 2014. In his most recent campaign, he defeated Chip Markel with 75% of the vote. Over previous elections, Bost has also won against Raymond Lenzi in 2020 with over 60% of votes, Brendan Kelly in 2018 with more than half of the votes cast, Charles Baricevic in 2016 by about a 15-point margin, and William L. Enyart in his initial run for Congress.
