The Illinois State Fire Marshal (OSFM) has announced that applications are now being accepted for the Small Equipment Grant Program. The program is designed to help fire departments and ambulance services across Illinois purchase small firefighting and ambulance equipment.

This year, up to $6 million in grant funding is available, with individual grants of up to $26,000 for eligible organizations. Most fire departments, fire protection districts, township fire departments, and stand-alone not-for-profit ambulance service providers in Illinois can apply.

Applications must be submitted online by November 14, 2025. Additional information and the application form can be found at OSFM Grants & Loans.

In the previous grant cycle, $4 million was distributed to 178 fire departments, districts, and EMS providers throughout the state.

Harriss, a Republican, was elected to the Illinois State Senate in 2023 to represent the state's 56th Senate District, replacing previous state senator Kris Tharp.
