Last week, Illinois State Representative Kevin Schmidt served as “Principal for the Day” at Wirth/Parks Middle School in Cahokia. During his visit, Schmidt engaged with students through classroom question-and-answer sessions and spent time speaking with teachers about education and their achievements. He also participated in lunchroom activities, handing out fruit to students.

Schmidt expressed appreciation to school leadership, stating, "I want to thank the head principal, Tiana Montgomery, for allowing me to play the role of principal for a day!"

Schmidt, a Republican, was elected to the Illinois State House in 2023 and represents the 114th House District. He succeeded LaToya Greenwood as state representative.
