More than 60 first responders from the Metro East region attended an appreciation event hosted by State Senator Erica Harriss at her Edwardsville district office on October 23. The event, described as an open house, included police officers, firefighters, EMTs, dispatchers, emergency management personnel, coroners, and other first responders from communities across the 56th District.
Senator Harriss said, “This event was all about saying thank you. Every day, these brave men and women put their lives on the line to keep our communities safe. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to personally thank them and show our appreciation for everything they do.”
Attendees were offered complimentary BBQ sandwiches and sides provided by Meridian, Code 3 Spices and Betty Lou’s Table.
Harriss is a Republican who was elected to the Illinois State Senate in 2023 to represent the state's 56th Senate District. She succeeded Kris Tharp in this role.
