Reps. Davis, Bustos to participate in bipartisan trade mission to Cuba.
Illinois Reps. Rodney Davis and Cheri Bustos will travel to Cuba as part of an upcoming bipartisan agricultural trade mission.
The purpose of the trip, which is sponsored by the Illinois Cuba Working Group, will be to develop new economic development and export opportunities for Illinois farmers. The representatives will meet and talk with officials from the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Alimport, as well as tour the Cuban marketplace. They will also attend various diplomatic meetings.

Others on the mission will include representatives from the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Farm Bureau, Illinois Soybean Growers, Illinois Corn and AGCO.
"We've allowed the sale of certain agricultural products to Cuba since 2000, but because of government restrictions we've put Illinois farmers, and the Cuban people, at a disadvantage," Davis said.
Bustos, however, expressed enthusiasm for the mission.
“Illinois farmers have what it takes to compete and succeed on the global economic playing field," she said.
Davis (R-IL) has represented Illinois's 13th District in the House of Representatives since 2013. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1970, Davis was educated at Millikin University and is married to Shannon Davis. He serves on the following committees: Agriculture, Transportation and Infrastructure
