The Champaign, Illinois Unit 4 School District has announced its Schools of Choice dates for the 2016-17 school year.
Parents and students have multiple options for gaining perspective on prospective schools.
Prospective families can visit any of the district's 12 elementary schools at 9 a.m. on Tuesday mornings in February or Wednesday afternoons at 12:30 p.m. during March.
Garden Hills Elementary and Kenwood Elementary Schools will hold information sessions showcasing all of the schools on January 26 and February 11 respectively. Both events begin at 6 p.m.
For families looking for an evening school tour, there will be an evening open house February 23 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at all 12 schools. Middle school open houses will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Jefferson April 18, at Franklin April 19, and at Edison April 21.
The district is also offering smaller group conversations with staff members through its Choice Chats program. The chats will take place March 3 and March 10 from 4:30 p.m to 6 p.m. at the Family Information Center.
Registration will be open at the Family Information Center during the same time frame. Kindergarten registration will run from January 4 to March 31. Students wishing to transfer from one school to another can do so any time during the month of May.
Students entering middle school from Stratton and BTW elementary schools should also plan to register for middle school April 25-29. New middle school students arriving from other district schools will automatically be placed without any registration required.
