The Board of Health Advisory Committee (HAC) for Madison County, Illinois met recently at the Madison County Health Department to review the Public Health Administrator’s report.

The report first advised HAC members of the meeting date for the next Heroin Task Force meeting and then gave an update on IPLAN (Illinois Local Project for Assessment of Needs), stating that an organizational capacity assessment was required.

The committee noted the “Fed Up” event at the Wildey Theatre. Anderson Hospital and Swank Motion Pictures produced and put on the event.

Also of note in the report was a budget update for Local Health Protection Funds. The budget was still unsettled and may not be resolved until the spring of 2016. Many agencies have needed to reduce services and staff as a result of not yet having a state budget.

Outside of the Public Health Administrator’s report, committee Jean Schram mentioned that she was on the IL Partners Committee, which is a group trying to track what impact medical marijuana will have on the state.

Committee members present at the meeting included  Schram, Dorothy Droste, Marcia Custer, Arthur L. Grist, Sr., David L. Ayres and, by phone, Janet Burnett.
