The Public Safety Committee for Madison County, Illinois convened recently to hear reports from Animal Control and the License Investigator.
Ledy Van Kavage from Best Friends Animal Society made a presentation on stray cats in the county. She showed statistics and research from around the country on how to reduce stay cat populations. Afterwards, a resolution authorizing pet population grants was presented and approved.
The license investigator mentioned that there were no violations this month. The bills for the month were presented and approved, including the purchase of annual software and maintenance at a cost of $5,760.
The Public Safety Committee oversees the Emergency Management, Animal Control and License Investigation departments. Additionally, it liaises with the 9-1-1 Emergency Management Telephone System, as well as the sheriff for patrol operations and the coroner. Gussie Glasper is the committee chair. Committee members include Bruce Malone, Art Asadorian, Bill Robertson, Tom McRae, Judy Kuhn and Steve Adler.
