Fruitstand

The Planning and Zoning Committee for Granite City, Illinois convened recently to discuss the zoning of a local vegetable business.

The first order of business was to discuss the vegetable stand at 2355 Pontoon Rd. William Henke, whose property is zoned R-1 Single Family Residential District, asked if his daughter could host a home-grown vegetable stand on their property a few days a week. The stand was not approved due to heavy traffic in the area.

The next topic concerned pole signs for 3102 Nameoki Rd. Chairman Dan McDowell said the council would vote on this matter at its upcoming meeting.

Committee members present at the meeting McDowell, Tim Elliott, Nikki Petrillo, Gerald Williams and Bob Pickerell.
