Alton City Council to address St. Patrick's Day events in upcoming meeting

The Alton City Council plans to discuss the St. Patrick's Day events at tomorrow's meeting.

The Alton City Council plans to discuss the St. Patrick's Day events at tomorrow's meeting.

The City Council for the City of Alton, Illinois, will meet tomorrow, Feb. 10, to hear reports from standing committees.

An important item of business mentioned in the reports is the St. Patrick’s Day event that will need coordination between multiple departments. The Public Works Department, Police Department and Fire Department will direct and effectuate a temporary closure of certain streets from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, for the event. The streets included are State St. between Wall and Broadway, W. Third St. from State to Piasa and Belle from Third to Fourth.

Mayor Brant Walker will preside over the meeting along with City Clerk Mary Boulds and City Treasurer Cynthia Roth. Alderpersons for the council include Jim Ryan, Carolyn MacAfee, Mike Velloff, Alice Martin, Charles Brake, Gary Fleming and David Boulds.
