Glen Carbon Finance and Administration Committee OKs 2016 Homecoming budget

Finance

The Finance and Administration Committee for Glen Carbon recently met to approve the Community Events Committee 2016 Homecoming budget.

Steve Slemer noted that the committee planned on turning the beer stand over to the Fire Department. The Fire Department would handle all expenses, with the department calculating sales and cutting a check back to the village for a portion of the proceeds. Slemer believes this is a good strategy and hoped to see more organizations get involved in community events.

The committee also discussed the DRAFT Five Year Capital Improvement Plan. Jamie Bowden provided a copy of the plan, which noted that the Capital Spending Plan for Projects FY2017 to 2021 totals $30,514,798. Bowden also mentioned the Utility Tax and asked to meet with the full board at some point on the topic.

Also of note at the meeting was the approval of various ordinances, including one establishing a new Community Events Committee and one amending the service agreement with Good Energy LP for the village’s Municipal Aggregation Program.
